In 1988 the winner of the National Auxiliary-Powered Soaring Championships received the Stevenson Trophy.
The trophy was created in memory of Mike Stevenson and the first recipient was David Stevenson. David went on to win it 3 times.
There are many other notable recipients, some of whom are in attendance at the 2026 event.
In 2018 the original trophy was retired, as it no longer had space for new inscriptions. It was replaced by the Williams Trophy. The original trophy is now held by the Stevenson family.
New in 2026, there will be a Traveling Trophy which is awarded to a new winner each year. The winner’s name will be added to the plaque to create a lasting legacy of recipients
A Keeper Trophy will also be awarded.
As technology has changed, so have the rules. The 2026 rules will be discussed in later bulletins.
